We are offering you an opportunity to see Samoa. A set of tours will be organised for conference delegates to explore our beautiful Samoa.
Our lunchtime bus tours offer an affordable and fascinating introduction to Samoan life, culture and history led by NUS tourism students. Both tours will run on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday during the lunch break departing at 12:30 and returning at 13:30. Numbers are limited and allocated on a first come first served basis so book early to avoid disappointemnt. Payment of $20 per tour can be made online or at registration. Packed lunches and drinks will be provided on the tour.
Route 1: Apia Harbourside tour
This tour heads to the coast via the traditional villages of Moata’a and Vaiala. We then follow the harbour, taking in the wharf, Aggie Greys hotel, the recently renovated catholic cathedral and major government buildings and the famous flea market before heading up the historically significant Mulinu’u Peninsula to the parliament building where we will stop for lunch with stunning views of the pacific. We return to NUS through town taking in the newly opened market.
Route 2: Historic mountainside tour
This tour first heads to the national museum of Samoa where we will be provided with a brief history of the islands and their culture. From the museum we climb up the cross Island road taking in the new national hospital and the bustling village of Moto’otua. We will take lunch at the peaceful and stunning Vailima estate. Built by the author Robert Louis Stevenson it was his home for the final years of his life. The estate offers breathtaking views over Apia and Mt Vaea.
Please note that the tour does not include entry to the RLS museum which is $10, delegates are welcome to pay to enter the museum although may not be able to get the most from the visit in the 15-20 minutes available

All-day Scenic Tour
Lalomanu beach day trip
Enjoy a scenic drive to the famous Lalomanu beach for a walk and swim. Bus leaves NUS at 9am towards the North eastern side of the island, viewing the Falefa Fall and the Afulilo Dam on a one hour trip. We will then spend several hours relaxing in a beach fale where we can swim, walk, explore the village, take stunning pacific island photographs and enjoy lunch. We will return by 3pm along the South eastern side to view the Fords and natural beauty of the villages. Light lunch and drinks will be provided. Recommend to take swimming costumes, towel, a lavalava, hat and sunscreen lotion, camera and maybe a good book. A perfect way to see the wider island and relax after a successful and busy conference.
